St. Vincent Drops Women's Swimming and Diving
The St. Vincent women’s swimming team won 11 out of the 14 events to defeat Penn State Behrend 167-66 in non-conference action on Saturday.
LATROBE, Pa. – The St. Vincent women's swimming team won 11 out of the 14 events to defeat Penn State Behrend 167-66 in non-conference action on Saturday.
Meghan Wade (Berea, OH/Berea) broke both the one-meter and three-meter team records for 11 dives. Her NCAA qualifying scores were 456.25 for the one meter and 491.80 in the three meter.
MaryEllen Spooner (Lockhaven, PA/West Springfield) claimed the 100 backstroke for the Lions with a time of 1:06.29 and Alex Isaacson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) won the other individual event in the 200 IM (1:33..79).
Sarah Jelinek (Warren, PA/Warren), Hannah Kelly (Elizabeth, PA/South Allegheny), Georgie Hatch (Middletown, PA/Middletown) and Rachel Skaluba (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) composed the winning 200 free relay team. The foursome touched in 2:03.95.
Spooner and Isaacson also took third in the 50 free (27.35) and the 200 breaststroke (2:54.26), respectively.
Individually, Hatch led Behrend in the distance events. She placed third in the 1000 free (12:49.48) and fourth in the 500 freestyle in 6:15.28.
Meagan Daily (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) picked up a pair of third-place finishes in 100 butterfly (1:09.39) and the 200 butterfly (2:47.01).
The Lions return to action on Wednesday, February 13 at the AMCC Championships.
