Women's Swimming and Diving Do It Again...AMCC Champions!
The Penn State Behrend women’s swimming and diving team won their seventh straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship on Saturday night.
GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team won their seventh straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship on Saturday night.
The Lions turned a one-point deficit into a 31-point victory on the final day of the championships held at Grove City. Meghan Wade (Berea, OH/Berea) repeated as the one-meter diving champion with an NCAA qualifying score of 401.85 to complete the sweep of the diving events.
MaryEllen Spooner (Lockhaven, PA/West Springfield) was a double winner on the night. She took first place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:14.30 and then was the anchor on the winning 400 free relay along with Lauren Rosato (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley), Georgie Hatch (Middletown, MD/Middletown) and Alex Isaacson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport). The team touched in 3:55.98 for the victory.
Meagan Daily (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) earned the third first place for Behrend. She won the 200 butterfly in 2:40.02.
Rosato led the Lions in the 100 free, taking the second-best AMCC time of 58.90 while Isaacson placed second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:46.40. Rachel Skaluba (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) came in fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:55.12).
In the 1650 freestyle, Hatch earned points with a fourth-place finish in a time of 20:14.16.
Cabrini came in second with a score of 183 and Franciscan was third (154), while Penn State Altoona took fourth (117) and Pitt-Bradford was fifth (99).
