Women's Swimming and Diving Drops First Dual Meet

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Mia Pietropola (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) won three events, including two individual, but the Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team fell to Westminster 144-87 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The freshman won the 100 and 200 breaststroke, while swimming the opening leg of the winning 400 free relay. Pietropola touched in 1:11.24 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:33.61 in the 200 breaststroke. She then teamed with Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton La-Salle), Jesse Dunleavy (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) and Lauren Rosato (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley) for a time of 4:09.76 in the 400 free relay.

Watterson led the Lions in the distance events. She won the 500 free (5:46.74) and took third in the 1000 freestyle in 11:52.89. Georgie Hatch (Middletown, MD/Middletown) came in second in the 500 free (6:19.51).

In the 100 butterfly, Meagan Daily (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) took first with a time of 1:10.26 and Dunleavy followed in second (1:14.44).

Alex Isaacson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) had the final individual win for Behrend. She won the 200 IM with a time of 2:37.39.

The Lions return to action on Saturday at Allegheny. Meet time is set for 1 p.m.
