Pietropola Paces Lions at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Mia Pietropola (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) won three individual events for the Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team but Allegheny managed a 144-100 win over the Lions on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Pietropola won the 100 and 200 breaststroke, while coming in first in the 200 IM. She clocked in at 1:11.41 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:33.17 in the 200 breaststroke.  Pietropola had the fastest time in the 200 IM (2:19.48) to complete her dominant day.

Lauren Rosato (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley) was the top swimmer for Behrend in the 100 freestyle, coming in third (1:03.75), before placing second in the 100 butterfly (1:10.84).

The winning 200 free relay consisted of Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton La-Salle), Jesse Dunleavy (McMurray, PA/Peters Township), Georgie Hatch (Middletown, MD/Middletown) and Rosato. The foursome touched in 1:54.79 for the victory.

Watterson also led a 1-2-3 finish in the 500 freestyle (5:49.30) followed by Dunleavy and Hannah Kelly (Elizabeth, PA/South Allegheny).

Meagan Daily (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of Sacred Heart) had one of six wins on the day, touching the wall first in the 100 butterfly in 1:08.39 to edge out Rosato.

Pietropola, Daily, Dunleavy and Alex Isaacson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) had the second –best time in the 400 medley relay (4:32.20) to open the meet.

The Lions return to action in two weeks against Baldwin Wallace, beginning at 1 p.m.
