Women's Swimming and Diving Finish Seventh at Fredonia State Invitational

FREDONIA, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team nearly doubled their point total from day two to finish with a score of 185 for seventh place at the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational on Sunday.

Oberlin won the invitational with a score of 664, while Fredonia State was second (606) and Allegheny finished third with a total of 568.5.

Mia Pietropola (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) was instrumental in two relays and the 200 breaststroke for the Lions. She tallied a fourth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:31.28 to set a new program record.

Pietropola also helped the 200 medley relay along with Alex Isaacson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport), Meagan Daily (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) and Lauren Rosato (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley). The team took seventh overall with a time of 2:05.15.

The other relay was the 400 freestyle. Jesse Dunleavy (McMurray, PA/Peters Township, Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton-La Salle), Rosato and Pietropola were seventh overall in 4:03.97.

Individually, Isaacson was the top swimmer for the Lions in the 400 IM with an eighth-place finish (5:24.08), while touched in 13th place in the 100 butterfly (1:07.23).

Behrend returns to action on Saturday at Penn State Altoona. The meet begins at 1 p.m.
