Pietropola Wins Twice; Lions in Second at AMCC Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. – After day one of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships held at Grove City in conjunction with the James E. Longnecker Invitational, the Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team is in second place out of five teams.

The Lions (48) trail Cabrini by 25 points while Franciscan is in third place (44) through six events.

Mia Pietropola (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) picked up her first gold medal as the AMCC Champion in the 200 IM with time of 2:14.32. In the preliminaries, she touched in 2:14.26 to set a new AMCC meet and open record along with a new program record.

The 400 medley relay consisting of Pietropola, Lauren Rosato (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley), Alex Isaacson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) and Meagan Daily (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of Sacred Heart) were crowned AMCC Champions and took seventh overall with a time of 4:25.14.

The same ladies that swam the 400 medley relay placed seventh overall and third in the AMCC in the opening 200 free relay with a time of 1:49.06.

Behrend will gear up for day two with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m.
