Women's Swimming Slips To Third at AMCC Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team sit in third place with 97 points after day two of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships held at Grove City on Friday.

Cabrini remains in the lead with 156 points and Franciscan took over second with a 117 total. The Lions are in third and Penn State Altoona is fourth (84). Pitt-Bradford rounds out the teams in fifth (73).

Freshman Mia Pietropola (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) claimed her second individual gold medal, placing third overall and first in the AMCC in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.34.

Alex Isaacson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) claimed her first individual conference title in the 400 IM. She won with a time of 5:06.15 and finished 16th overall.

Pietropola, Isaacson, Lauren Rosato (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley), and Meagan Daily (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of Sacred Heart), the Lions go-to relay team, finished third in the AMCC and ninth overall in the 200 free relay with a time of 2:00.57.

Rosato and Daily were neck-and-neck in the 100 butterfly finals. Rosato was runner up with a time of 1:7.72 and Daily got bronze in 1:08.42. Rosato also earned points with a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:10.02.

Behrend will finish the championships tomorrow with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m.
