Lions Fall Short of AMCC Title

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team finished third out of five teams on the final day of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships on Saturday at Grove City.

Cabrini halted the Lions chance of winning their eighth straight conference championship with a winning score of 243. Cabrini is now the only other team to win the AMCC title besides Behrend. Franciscan came in second with a 174 total and the Lions were third with 140.

Freshman Mia Pietropola (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) continued to dominate for Behrend. She set a new AMCC meet , AMCC open and school record with her time of 2:27.54 in the preliminaries of the 200 breaststroke. Pietropola went on to win her third individual title with a new time of 28.38 in the finals. That time was good for fourth overall. Pietropola went on to earn the Highest Point Award for the conference.

Meagan Daily (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of Sacred Heart) was runner up in the AMCC in the 200 butterfly. She touched in 2:39.47 to also finish 17th overall.

Alex Isaacson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) was third in the AMCC in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:27.26. In the 100 freestyle, Lauren Rosato (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley) was the top finisher for Behrend and fifth in the AMCC with a time of 59.51.

Hannah Kelly (Elizabeth, PA/South Allegheny) took six seconds off her best time in the 1650 to finish seventh in the AMCC in 22:55.46.

Pietropola, Rosato, Daily and Isaacson made up the final 400 free relay team. The group was third in the AMCC and ninth overall with a time of 3:56.99.
