Women's Swimming and Diving Finishes Third at Fredonia Invitational

FREDONIA, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team placed sixth out of eight teams with a score of 287 at the three-day Fredonia Blue Devil Invitational.

Wheeling Jesuit won with a team score of 731.5, followed by Oberlin in second (699.5) and regional-rival Allegheny in third (605.5).

Mia Pietropola (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) had the best performance of the day in the 200 breaststroke. She touched in 2:27.73 for third overall.

Kristin Owens (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton-La Salle) were 10th and 11th, respectively, in the 400 IM. Owens led the team with a time of 5:10.76 and Watterson touched in 5:15.83.

In the 100 backstroke, Allie Schneider (Erie, PA/McDowell) had the 16th best time in 1:07.83.
Pietropola, Emma Daghir (St. Marys, PA/Elk County Catholic), Schneider and Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) came in sixth in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:50.73.

The Lions return to action on Saturday against Penn State Altoona. Meet begins at 1 p.m.
