Westminster Defeats Women's Swimming and Diving

ERIE, Pa. – The Westminster women's swimming and diving team defeated Penn State Behrend 159-78 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon in the Junker Center pool.

Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) had two wins in the first home meet for the Lions. She had an individual victory in the 100 butterfly and then in the 400 free relay. Lowery had a winning time of 1:02.60 in the 100 fly and was second in the 200 free (2:03.87). She had the top time for Behrend in the 200 fly in 2:26.66.

Lowery was joined by Kelsey Urban (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek), Jessica Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois) and Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton-La Salle) in the 400 free relay. They touched first in 4:00.26.

Individually, Wyckoff led the Lions in the sprinting freestyle events. She took first in the 50 free (27.07) and second in the 100 free (58.89). Watterson won the 500 free (5:54.11) and placed second in the 200 IM (2:36.83). Urban tallied her first dual-meet victory in the 200 IM, beating Watterson with a time of 2:24.13.

Behrend returns to action Saturday, November 7 against Chatham. Meet begins at 1 p.m.
