Baldwin Wallace Swims Past Lions

ERIE, Pa. – Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) won two individuals events and swam on a winning relay, but the Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team fell to Baldwin Wallace 110-77 in non-conference action on Saturday.

Lowery was responsible for two of the four individual wins on the day for the Lions. She touched first in the 200 freestyle in 2:02.78 and then won the 100 butterfly with a best time of 1:02.29. Lowery, Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village), Allie Schneider (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Claire Mallick (Pittsburgh, PA/Woodland Hills) were the 400 free relay winners with a time of 4:04.96.

Horn also picked up an individual victory in the 50 free. She paced Behrend in 26.85, while Schneider took third in 28.19.

The Lions won the 100 free thanks to first-place Jessica Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois). She touched the wall first in 58.12 and Horn was a close second in 59.43.

In the 100 backstroke, Schneider had the team's best finish with second place in a time of 1:09.41.

Diver Jessica Rettger (Bradford, PA/Bradford) posted a score of 106.90 on the one-meter board for second place.

Behrend returns to action Saturday at Penn State Altoona. Meet begins at 1 p.m.
