Women's Swimming and Diving Competes at Blue Devil Invite

FREDONIA, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team sits in eighth place after day one of the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational held on Friday evening.

John Carroll is in first place with day one in the books with 157 points. Oberlin sits in second (126) and Wheeling Jesuit is third (124). The Lions earned 36 points in the three events they scored in.

Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) kicked off the invite with fourth-place finish in the 200 IM. She clocked in with a time of 2:14.76 after competing in the "A" final.

Finishing in the top eight in the 50 yard freestyle was Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village). She was seventh in a time of 25:44. The sophomore was tied for eighth after the preliminaries and won a swim off to qualify for the "A" final. Horn beat Jenna Gleason of Brockport 24.95 to 25.04 in the swim off.

Jessica Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois) swam a personal-best time of 25.73 in the 50 free.

Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton-La Salle) led the Lions in the 1650 freestyle. She swam the event in 19:34.70 for 11th place out of 15.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow for the second day of the invite. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. with finals at 5 p.m.
