Lowery Leads Women's Swimming and Diving at Tri-Meet

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Competing for the second straight day, the Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team fell in a tri-meet to Allegheny and Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon in Meadville, Pa.

The Lions fell to the Gators 187-71 and to Saint Vincent 211-42.

Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) tallied the lone win on the day for Behrend. She touched first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.49. She also was third in the 100 butterfly (1:04.30) and fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:03.44).

Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton-La Salle) had a strong swim in the 1000-yard freestyle. She took second place out of five with a time of 11:48.74.

Kristin Owens (Erie, PA/McDowell) had the best finish for the Lions in the 100 breaststroke. She touched in a time of 1:21.70 for seventh overall.

In the 50 freestyle, Jessica Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois) had the sixth-best time of 26.85. She then had the fifth-best time in the 100 freestyle (58.08).

After completing the 1000 free, Watterson went on to race in the 500 free taking fifth overall in 5:54.07.

Behrend returns to action on Wednesday, February 10 for the four-day AMCC Championships at Grove City.
