Lions Fall to Baldwin Wallace

ERIE, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace women's swimming and diving team posted a 193-96 win over Penn State Behrend in non-conference action on Saturday at the Junker Center.

The Lions won six events, two apiece for Abigail Witmer (Herndon, VA/Herndon), Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) and Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village).

Witmer tallied wins in the 100 backstroke (1:05.95) and the 200 backstroke (2:21.10). She was also second in the 400 IM (5:12.72).

Lowery touched first in the 200 freestyle (2:06.33) and Paola Maldonado (San Juan, Puerto Rico) came in third in 2:14.69. The senior also won the 400 IM with a time of 5:03.73 and was second to lead Behrend in the 100 butterfly (1:04.57).

Horn led the Lions in the sprint freestyle events. She was first in the 50 free in 25.84 and then followed that with first place in the 100 (58.13). Jessica Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois) took second in the 100 freestyle in 58.60.

Lacey Grinnen (Warren, PA/Warren) had the fastest time for the Lions in the 1000 freestyle, touching in 12:31.96.

Behrend returns to action on Friday, December 1 at the Fredonia Blue Devil Invitational.
