Women's Swimming Keeps Lead at AMCC Championships

ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team remains in first place with a 10-point lead after day two of the 2020 Allegheny Empire Championships hosted by Hartwick College at the Webster Aquatic Center on Thursday night.

Noteworthy:

* Marcella Puglia (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) earned her second individual championship on day two
* Puglia won the 200 freestyle by nearly eight seconds with a time of 1:58.46 and edging teammate Madi Buckley (Huntingdon, PA/Huntingdon), who clocked in at 2:06.74 for second place
* The 200 free relay team of Puglia, Trulee Stainbrook (DuBois, PA/DuBois Area), Lauren Barmore (Ashville, NY/Panama Central) and Alison McClure (Loveland, OH/Milford)e placed second in the AMCC and fifth overall with a time of 1:44.36
* Valerie Grimes (Farmington, PA/Uniontown) took home the bronze medal in the 400 IM among AMCC competitors, while placing 10th overall with a time of 5:12.10
* Lacey Grinnen (Warren, PA/Warren) led the Lions in the 100 butterfly. She touched in 1:05.63 for fourth in the AMCC and 13th overall
* The Lions were edged by Alfred State in the final event, the 400 medley relay
* Behrend took second by just a second with a time of 4:19.53
