Altoona Tops Women's Swimming and Diving in AMCC Action

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team posted a 132-125 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) victory over Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon.

* The win marked the first time in program history the Altoona Lions won a dual meet against Behrend
* In a close meet, Altoona placed first in the final four events and secured the win with 11 points in the final 400 freestyle relay
* Behrend posted five first-place finishes on the day starting with the opening 200 medley relay
* Emma Webster (Bradford, PA/Bradford), Barbie Cessar (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock), Valerie Grimes (Farmington, PA/Uniontown) and Trulee Stainbrook (DuBois, PA/DuBois) had a winning time of 2:02.29
* Marcella Puglia (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) had a pair of individual wins for the Lions
* Puglia touched in 11:34.84 in the 1000 freestyle for her first victory, before winning the 50 breaststroke in 35.36
* Webster secured a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:04.45), while Cessar had a winning time of 1:15.18 in the 100 breaststroke
* Webster, Aliya Webster (Bradford, PA/Bradford), Cessar and Puglia were two seconds shy of claiming first in the final 400 freestyle relay
