Women's Swimming and Diving Regains Lead at AMCC Championships
The Penn State Behrend women’s swimming and diving team moved back into first place with 479 points after the completion of day three at the 2022 AMCC Championships held in conjunction with the Empire 8 Championships on Friday.
ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team moved back into first place with 479 points after the completion of day three at the 2022 AMCC Championships held in conjunction with the Empire 8 Championships on Friday.
Combined Women's Scores: 1. Nazareth (940.5), 2. Penn State Behrend (479), 3. Hartwick (458.5), 4. Alfred State (417.5), 5. Penn State Altoona (363.5), 6. Alfred (359), 7. Wells (167), 8. Utica (162.5), 9. Pitt-Bradford (110.5), 10. Medaille (14)
Noteworthy:
* The Behrend Lions had two individual champions and one relay to take a 61.5 lead over the Alfred State Pioneers
* Marcella Puglia (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) won her second event of the championships, repeating as champion in the 200 freestyle
* Puglia had a winning time of 1:57.41
* Emma Webster (Bradford, PA/Bradford) registered her first individual championship, touching first in the 100 backstroke 1:01.04
* E. Webster, Barbie Cessar (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock), Valerie Grimes (Farmington, PA/Uniontown) and Puglia won the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:10.61
* Behrend had a pair of second-place finishes, starting with Aliya Webster (Bradford, PA/Bradford) in the 400 IM (4:53.58)
* Cessar led in the 100 breaststroke with a second-place time of 1:09.33
* In the 100 butterfly, Maddie Duncan (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) swam to a third-place finish in 1:06.43
