GROVE CITY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team opened the 2023-24 season at the First Splash meet at Grove City on Saturday.

Key Moments

* Jadyn Danylko (Erie, PA/McDowell) was a double winner for the Behrend Lions
* She led in the 200 fly (2:29.55) and won the 100 fly (1:02.34)
* Melody Li (South Brunswick, NJ/South Brunswick) and Camryn Watters (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) were also winners on the day
* Li took first in the 200 breaststroke (2:50.74) and Watters won the 100 backstroke (1:05.43)
* Watters also was first in the 200 back (2:18.06), second in the 100 free and third in the 200 IM
* As a team, Behrend had seven second-place finishes
* Watters, Danylko, Becca Krenzer (Grove City, PA/Grove City) and Heidi Schwartz (Webster, NY/Webster) swam 1:56.32 in the 200 medley relay for second
* Isabel Sheridan (Allentown, PA/Parkland) was second in the 400 IM (5:10.20)
* Sheridan and third in the 500 free (5:53.65) and third in the 100 back (1:07.19)
* In the diving competition, Lauren Stephens (Fairview, PA/Fairview) claimed second on the one-meter board with a score of 195.17 and was third on the third-meter board (153.83)
* Julia Sank (North East, PA/North East) had the best score for Behrend on the three-meter board, collecting a total of 158.25 for second
* In the final relay of the day, Marin O'Lone (Edinboro, PA/General McLane), Emily Russell (Oil City, PA/Oil City), Samantha Sebulak (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Mackenzie Van Iddekinge (Evans City, PA/Seneca Valley) swam 1:45.91 in the 200 free relay for second overall
