Stephens Wins 1M Diving; Lions Move In Second Place at Championships
The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team moved into second place out of eight teams after day two of the 2024 Allegheny-Empire Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center on Wednesday night.
ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team moved into second place out of eight teams after day two of the 2024 Allegheny-Empire Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center on Wednesday night.
Combined Women's Scores: 1. Nazareth (408), 2. Penn State Behrend (381.50), 3. Alfred State (332), 4. Hartwick (320), 5. Penn State Altoona (185), 6. Alfred (173), 7. Pitt-Bradford (132.50) 8. Wells (84)
Noteworthy:
* The Behrend Lions have pulled within 26.5 points of first place
* The Lions had one AMCC Champion and three runner-up finishes
* Lauren Stephens (Fairview, PA/Fairview) won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 372 and scored third overall in the combined meet
* Nora Blasch (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) was runner up in the 1-meter diving (259.20) and sixth overall while Julia Sank (North East, PA/North East) was third in the AMCC and seventh overall
* Isabel Sheridan (Allentown, PA/Parkland) was seeded sixth after the preliminaries in the 500 free and finished second in the AMCC and seventh overall (5:25.36)
* Camryn Watters (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) and Jadyn Danylko (Erie, PA/McDowell) were in the top five finishers for the 50 free
* Watters was second in both placings with a time of 24.81 and Danylko was third overall in 25.30
* Watters, Danylko, Samantha Sebulak (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Becca Krenzer (Grove City, PA/Grove City) placed second in the AMCC and third overall with a time of 1:40.23 in the 200 free relay
* Madelyn King (Uniontown, PA/Uniontown) posted a time of 2:15.51 to take third in the AMCC and fifth place overall in the 200 IM

* Behrend returns to the water tomorrow for day three of the AMCC Empire Championships. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with finals at 5 p.m.
