Watters, Smith Earn Top AMCC Women's Swimming and Diving Honors
Penn State Behrend women’s swimming and diving sophomore Camryn Watters was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Swimmer of the Year and freshman Kallie Smith earned Newcomer of the Year honors, headlining the AMCC All-Conference Team.
ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving sophomore Camryn Watters (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Swimmer of the Year and freshman Kallie Smith (Oil City, PA/Oil City) earned Newcomer of the Year honors, headlining the AMCC All-Conference Team.
Watters, the 2024 Newcomer of the Year, was named the Swimmer of the Meet at the first SUNYAC-AMCC Championships. She broke eight individual records and seven relay records over the four-day championship. Watters set an AMCC Open record and got an NCAA "B" cut time in the 100 backstroke for first place. She also won the 50 free and 200 backstroke, while swimming on two winning relays.
Smith won two individual events and swam on two winning relays at the SUNYAC-AMCC Championships. She won the 200 IM and 200 free, while swimming on the record-breaking 200 free relay and the winning 400 medley relay. She also took second in the 100 free, 400 free relay and 800 free relay.
