Women's Tennis Falls to St. Vincent

ERIE, Pa. – The St. Vincent women's tennis team swept the singles competition and took two out of the three doubles to defeat Penn State Behrend 8-1 in non-conference action on Thursday.

Malinda Miller (Champion, PA/Connellsville) and Patra Sangpoompong (Bangkok, Thailand/Erie First Christian Academy) posted the lone doubles win for the Lions (3-4), winning 8-4 over Shayla Landman and Jacquelyn Hauser.

In the singles competition, Monica Gokhberg (Brookyln, NY/Leon M. Goldstein) and Catharine Haglund (Chevy Chase, MD/Academy of the Holy Cross) were five sets away from winning their games at No. 1 and No. 5, respectively.

At No. 2 singles, Sangpoompong took four set points away from Landman, falling 6-2, 6-2.

 Behrend returns to action on Saturday against Penn State Altoona. Match begins at 11 a.m.
