The Grove City women’s tennis team won three doubles and five singles match to defeat Penn State Behrend 8-1 in the first spring match for the Lions on Friday night at the Westwood Racquet Club.

ERIE, Pa. – The Grove City women's tennis team won three doubles and five singles match to defeat Penn State Behrend 8-1 in the first spring match on Friday night at the Westwood Racquet Club.

Patra Sangpoompong (Bangkok, Thailand/Erie First Christian Academy) picked up the lone win for the Lions (8-9) with a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Lauren Troxel at the No. 2 singles spot.

She also joined Monica Gohkberg (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein) at No. 1 doubles, but the two fell short by a score of 8-6 to Troxel and Caroline McGuire.

Behrend returns to action on April 14 against Allegheny. Match begins at 1 p.m.
