Women's Tennis On a Roll

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team won three doubles and five singles games to defeat Pitt-Greensburg 8-1 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.

Playing in back-to-back conference matches, the Lions (7-1, 5-0) remained undefeated in the AMCC.

Alexandra Laffey (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny ) and Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst)  posted an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Patra Sangpoompong (Bangkok, Thailand/Erie First Christian Academy) tallied an 8-6 decision at No. 2.

Colleen Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) and Storm Schaffer (Pittsburgh, PA/Greensburg Central Catholic) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win.

Laffey started out the singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory, before Malinda Miller (Champion, PA/Connellsville) earned a 6-3, 6-2 at the third spot. Czerwinski continued her dominance at No. 2 singles. She recorded a 6-4, 6-2 decision.

C. Miller and Morgan Kramer (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan) were the other two singles winners at the fourth and sixth spot, respectively.

Behrend returns to action on Tuesday against Westminster. Match begins at 4 p.m.
