ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team are two wins away from going undefeated in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play this season after an 8-1 win at Penn State Altoona on Friday night.
The Lions (8-2, 6-0 AMCC) won all six singles games, while surrendering one doubles set for the victory.
Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) and Alexandra Laffey (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny) tallied an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles to remain undefeated this season. Laffey was able to earn a 6-4, 6-3 in the top singles and Czerwinski managed a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.
Malinda Miller (Champion, PA/Connellsville) and Morgan Kramer (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan) were 8-1 winners at No. 3 doubles. Miller also played at No. 4 singles and won 6-3, 6-3.
Patra Sangpoompong (Bangkok, Thailand/Erie First Christian Academy) recorded a 6-4, 6-1 decision at third singles and Colleen Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) beat her opponent in the fifth spot (6-4, 7-5).
At six singles, Storm Schaffer (Pittsburgh, PA/Greensburg Central Catholic) finished with a 6-3, 6-1 win.
Behrend returns to action tomorrow at Mt. Aloysius. Match begins at 1 p.m.
