Behrend Takes Down D'Youville

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team earned their eighth Allehgeny Mountain College Conference (AMCC) win with a 9-0 victory over D'Youville on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lions (10-2, 8-0 AMCC) won every game and had five players with both singles and doubles wins, only giving up five set points in all. Behrend blanked the Spartans in 10 out of the 15 games played.

Alexandra Laffey (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny) and Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) won at No. 1 doubles (8-1), before collecting wins at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively.

Czerwinski, Malinda Miller (Champion, PA/Connellsville) and Colleen Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) blanked their singles opponents, 6-0, 6-0. Laffey, Patra Sangpoompong (Bangkok, Thailand/Erie First Christian Academy) and Julie Lester (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) were 6-0, 6-1 winners.

C. Miller and Sangpoompong were victorious 8-1 at No. 2 doubles and Lester teamed with Mackenzie Yoho (Ellwood City, PA/Lincoln) tallied an 8-0 win at third doubles.

Behrend returns to action on Friday at Alfred. Game time is 4 p.m.
