Lions Capture Second AMCC Win

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team made it two wins in two days with a 9-0 victory over Mt. Aloysius in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) on Saturday afternoon at Westwood Racquet Club.

The Lions (2-0, 2-0 AMCC) swept the three doubles matches en route to winning all six singles matches.

Playing at No. 1 singles and doubles, Alexandra Laffey (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny) only allowed two set points. In singles, she won 6-1, 6-0 and then teamed with Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst), for an 8-1 victory.

Czerwinski, who remains undefeated on the season in conference play at No. 2 singles, earned a 6-0, 6-1 decision. Colleen Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) followed in the third spot for a 6-3, 6-2 win and Malinda Miller (Champion, PA/Connellsville) tallied a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 4.

Storm Schaffer (Pittsburgh, PA/Greensburg Central Catholic) and Julie Lester (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) finished out the singles wins with a 6-2, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1 decisions at fifth and sixth, respectively.

Morgan Kramer (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan) and M. Miller earned their second win of the weekend with an 8-2 decision at second doubles.  C. Miller and Celeste Bentley (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) did the same with an 8-2 victory.

Behrend returns to action on Tuesday against Fredonia at 4 p.m.
