BUFFALO, NY – Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst), Alexandra Laffey (Sewickley, PA/North Alleghey) and Colleen Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) won both their singles and doubles matches lead Behrend to an 8-1 win over Medaille in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday.

The Lions (3-1, 3-1 AMCC) bounced back from a close match on Saturday with Franciscan to sweep the singles competition and win two of the three doubles for their third conference victory.

Laffey and Czerwinski were 8-4 winners at No. 1 doubles, before Miller and Celeste Bentley (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) posted an 8-3 decision for their third doubles win of the season, but first at the second spot.

Behrend won all six singles by two-set victories, starting with Czerwinski in the top spot by a 6-3, 6-2 score. Playing at No. 2 for the second straight match, Laffey was victorious with a 6-2, 6-1 total.

Miller gave up the least points with a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles, while Morgan Kramer (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan) tallied a 6-0, 6-4 score in the fourth spot. Storm Schaffer (Pittsburgh, PA/Greensburg Central Catholic) and Julie Lester (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) closed out the match with wins at the fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Schaffer won 6-1, 6-4 and Lester posted a 7-6, 6-4 decision.

The Lions return to action on tomorrow against Washington & Jefferson. Match begins at 4 p.m.
