ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team posted an 8-1 non-conference victory over Thiel on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions (4-2) earned their third road win of the season behind three doubles and five singles victories.
Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) and Alexandra Laffey (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny) were winners at No. 1 doubles and singles. Czerwinski and Laffey posted an 8-2 decision at doubles, before recording a 6-1, 6-2 win and 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
Colleen Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) surrendered the least points on the day, collecting an 8-0 decision with Celeste Bentley (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) at No. 2 doubles and then posting a 6-0, 6-1 win at the third singles spot.
Morgan Kramer (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan) and Storm Schaffer (Pittsburgh, PA/Greensburg Central Catholic) were the final two double winners on the day. Combined at No. 3 doubles they earned an 8-4 victory. Kramer and Schaffer each won by identical scores of 6-3, 6-1 at fourth and fifth singles, respectively.
Behrend returns to action on Tuesday at Westminster. Match begins at 4 p.m.
