Behrend Downs Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team defeated Pitt-Bradford 6-3 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday night.

The Lions (7-3, 6-1 AMCC) swept doubles play and split singles for their sixth conference win of the season and third straight victory.

Alexandra Laffey (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny), Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) and Morgan Kramer (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan) won their singles and doubles games for Behrend.

Laffey and Czerwinski were 8-2 winners at the top singles spot. Laffey then earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, before Czerwinski recorded a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 2. 

Kramer and Malinda Miller (Champion, PA/Connellsville) registered a close 8-6 win at second doubles. Colleen Miller (Louisvillle, OH/Louisville) and Celeste Bentley (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) tallied the final doubles win with an 8-2 score.

At fifth singles, Kramer posted a two-set win to help the Lions hold off the Panthers.

Behrend returns to action on Friday against Alfred at 4 p.m.
