HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team dropped two matches on their first day of competition over spring break in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Lions (9-6) fell to Heidelberg and Albion 8-1. Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) and Celeste Bentley (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) picked up the lone wins for Behrend in singles play.
Against Heidleberg, Czerwinski had a three-set win over Safry Fugate in the top spot. She won 6-2, 2-6 and 10-7. Bentley also took her opponent to three sets for the victory. She won the first game 6-3, before falling 6-5 and then winning 10-8 at No. 4 singles.
The Lions return to action Friday against Millikin and Gordon for their final matches over break.
