Team Effort Lifts Lions Past Pitt-Bradford in Women's Tennis

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team remains undefeated in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Tuesday afternoon, posting a 9-0 decision over Pitt-Bradford at Westwood Racquet Club.

Four different players swept their opponent in singles while only five sets points were surrendered to help the Lions (8-2, 6-0 AMCC) down the Panthers (0-6, 0-5 AMCC).

Alexandra Laffey (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny), Kat McDonough (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic), Colleen Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) and Malinda Miller (Champion, PA/Connellsville) blanked their opponents at No. 1, 3, 5 and 6, respectively.

Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Alexa Holleran at No. 1 singles and Jacqueline Cannella (Bradford Woods, PA/North Allegheny) gave up one set point for a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Amy Thomas in the third spot.

In doubles, Oskana Omelchenko (Erie, PA/Central Tech) and Morgan Kramer (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan) teamed up for an 8-0 decision at No. 3 doubles. Joining them was Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) and Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) for a perfect score of 8-0 at No. 2.

Canella and C. Miller, competing at No. 1 doubles for the first time the season, defeated Emily Fowkes and Holleran, 8-6.

 The Lions will travel to D'Youville on Friday. Match begins at 4 p.m.
