Women's Tennis Post 7-2 Win Over Eastern Nazarene

HILTON HEAD, SC – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team posted a 7-2 victory over Eastern Nazarene in the first match of spring break in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

The Lions (12-5) posted wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Colleen Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) and Jacqueline Cannella (Bradford Woods, PA/North Allegheny) tallied an extra-set 9-8 decision at No. 2, while Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) and Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) managed to blank Hannah Lariviere and Alecia Tubbs 8-0 at No. 3.

Cannella, Bentley and C. Miller were double winners after posting singles victories. Cannella defeated Tressa Burrello 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 and Bentley was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 4 singles. Miller recorded a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 5 and Oksana Omelchenko (Erie, PA/Central Tech) followed with a 6-3, 6-1 score.

Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) earned the final singles win at No. 1, downing Adele Duval 6-3, 6-2.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow against Defiance at 2:30 p.m. in Hilton Head, SC.
