Women's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight Match

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team won their fourth straight match and third Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) win with an 8-1 decision over Mt. Aloysius on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions (4-0, 3-0 AMCC) had four players with a pair of wins, while the team only gave up one singles match on the day to defeat the Mounties.

Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) continues to be victorious at No. 1 singles and doubles. She posted a 6-0, 6-1 singles score and then teamed up with Jacqueline Cannella (Bradford Woods, PA/North Allegheny) for an 8-3 victory. Cannella then went on to win 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) and Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) recorded an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, then each went on to picked up singles decisions. Bentley was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 3 and Miller tallied a 6-0, 6-1 score at No. 5.

Erica Cannella (Bradford Woods, PA/North Allegheny) and Bayleigh Adams (Manchester, NJ/Manchester) joined forces to get an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.

The final singles decision went to Oksana Omelchenko (Erie, PA/Central Tech). She was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at the No. 6 spot.

Behrend returns to action on Monday against Penn State Altoona, beginning at 4 p.m.
