Women's Tennis Blanks Pitt-Bradford; Lions Remain Undefeated

BRADFORD, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team continues their winning ways, posting a 9-0 decision over Pitt-Bradford in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Action (AMCC) on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lions (6-0, 5-0 AMCC) started with winning all three doubles matches. Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) and Jacqueline Cannella (Bradford Woods, PA/North Allegheny) blanked their opponents 8-0 at the No. 1 spot.

Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) and Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) followed with an 8-1 score at No. 2 doubles, and Kat McDonough (Oakmont, PA/Oakland Catholic) and Bayleigh Adams (Manchester, NJ/Manchester) were 8-3 winners at No. 3 to take a 3-0 lead in the match.

Behrend proceeded to win all six singles matches. Czerwinski tallied a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Maya Bingaman in the top slot. Cannella surrendered one game for a 6-0, 6-1 score at No. 2 singles.

Bentley swept Amy Thomas at No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 decision, while McDonough and Miller handed their opponents identical 6-1, 6-1 losses at No. 4 and 5 singles, respectively.

Adams won in extra games at No. 6 singles, earning her first collegiate singles win with a 7-5, 7-5 decision.

The Lions returns to action on Friday at Franciscan. Match begins at 4 p.m.
