Women's Tennis Dominates Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team defeated Pitt-Greensburg 8-1 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday night.

The Lions (9-1, 7-1 AMCC) only surrendered one match to earn their ninth win of the season. Behrend won two of the three doubles and all six singles.

Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) and Jacqueline Cannella (Bradford Woods, PA/North Allegheny) gave up one game for an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) and Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) were flawless with an 8-0 decision at No. 2 doubles.

Czerwinski went into a tiebreaker set at No. 1 singles. She won 6-0, 5-7, 10-3. Cannella was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 2 singles and Bentley blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Kat McDonough (Oakmont, PA/Oakland Catholic) tallied a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles and Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) battled back from down a set to win 4-6, 6-2, 10-8.

The Lions return to action on Friday at Alfred. Match begins at 3 p.m.
