Women's Tennis Downs Medaille in Season Opener

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State women's tennis team tallied their first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) win of the season with a 6-3 victory over Medaille on Friday.

In the Lions (1-0, 1-0 AMCC) home and season opener, Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek,/Harbor Creek) and Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) were double winners. Miller, Bentley, Bayleigh Adams (Manchester, NJ/Manchester) and Vanessa Galatic (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) posted wins in their singles matches.

Miller earned a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 2 singles, followed by Bentley at No. 3. The senior tallied nearly the same score at 6-0, 6-2.

Adams was a 2-6, 7-6, 11-9 winner at No. 5 singles, while Galatic earned her first collegiate singles win with a 7-5, 6-2 decision at the sixth spot.

Bentley and Miller teamed up at No. 1 doubles for an 8-4 victory. Marissa Bowles (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) and Marissa Litzenberg paired together for their first collegiate doubles win at No. 2. The duo tallied an 8-4 victory.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow at D'Youville for a 10 a.m. start.
