Four Named to All-AMCC Women's Tennis Team

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team had four players named to the 2020 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Team, announced on Wednesday.

Freshman Sara Howard (Ashtabula, OH/Edgewood) and sophomore Rachel Weber (Hampton, PA/Hampton) were chosen to the first team at No. 3 doubles. Howard was also chosen to the second team at No. 5 singles. Freshman Audra Carnes (Fairview, PA/Fairview) earned second-team honors at No. 4 single and at No. 2 doubles along with teammate Erica Jasinski (Fairview, PA/Fairview).

Howard and Weber were listed on the first team for the Lions at No. 3 doubles. The duo posted a 4-0 AMCC record during the regular season and tallied a 6-1 overall mark. Howard and Weber are on a five-match winning streak heading into the NCAA Tournament. The only doubles loss was to Division II Edinboro in the second match of the season.

Howard was also named to the second team at No. 5 singles for posting a 5-0 conference record.  Overall, the freshman is 7-1 in singles action adding a 2-1 record in the No. 6 spot. Howard has now won six singles matches in a row. Carnes joins Howard on the second team at No. 4 singles. The newcomer also went undefeated in AMCC singles action at 5-0 and currently has a six-match winning streak. Carnes has a 7-1 singles overall record this season.

Carnes picked up her second All-AMCC accolades with Jasinski for No. 2 doubles. The pair managed a 5-3 overall doubles record, while posting a 4-1 mark in conference play.
