Behrend Track and Field Teams Have Solid Performance at West Virginia State Farm Games

 

The Penn State Behrend Track and Field teams competed at the West Virginia State Farm Games on Saturday, January 23.  Both the men and the women put in solid performances facing several top Division I competition. 

On the men's side, Ronson Mazany (Ashville, NY/Panama Central) turned in a great performance with three first place finishes.  Mazany placed first in the long jump competition with a mark of 6.62m.  In the triple jump, Mazany recorded a length of 12.90m to place him in the first position.  Mazany continued the success into the high jump where he had a mark of 1.83m which placed him first overall.  Michael Stark (Gibsonia/Pine-Richland) set a new Behrend record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.79 which was good enough for third place in the running.  Senior Jordan Telin (North Huntingdon/Norwin) also turned in several solid performances at the West Virginia games.  Telin was part of a team that placed second in the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 3:38.63.  The senior would also have success in the 200 meter dash and 400 meter dash in which he placed fourth and fifth, respectively. 

For the women, senior Dana Turley (Sarver/Freeport) set a new Penn State Behrend record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time 10.54 and was part of the 4X400 meter relay team that placed fifth overall.  Tanisha Wheatley (Saltsburg/Kiski) and Lauren Pecor (Mars/Mars) each turned in high-quality outings in the 3000 and 5000 meter runs.  Wheatley placed fourth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 12:18.08 and Pecor placed second in the 5000 with a time of 21:24.09.  Junior Jenna Fatica (Erie/Villa Maria) had strong showing in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.90 against tough Division I opponents. 

The Penn State Behrend track and field teams will be back in action on Saturday, February 6 when they travel to the Mount Union Invitational.  On Wednesday, February 13, the track and field teams will be at the Cornell Invitational.
