Women's Track and Field Competes in Myrtle Beach
The Penn State Behrend women’s track and field competed on day one of the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Myrtle Beach, SC on Friday.
Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field competed on day one of the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Myrtle Beach, SC on Friday.
Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) had a great day in field events. She finished first in the pole vault, lifting a distance of 3.30m (10' 10") and fourth in the long jump with a distance of 4.86m (15' 9.75").
Janiyah Wayne (Erie, PA/Central Tech) also had a nice day. She finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 1:04.66 and sixth in the 200m dash, finishing in 28.31.
Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch) finished right behind Wayne in the 200m in seventh with a time of 28.36 while Maura Costa (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) finished in 16th, posting a time of 29.38. Costa also placed seventh in the pole vault with a height of 2.75m (9' 0.25").
Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) took first place in the 800m, posting a time of 2:22.60 and Katelyn Hancock (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) finished fifth in a time of 2:28.53.
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) cross country Runner of the Year Rachel Ramsey finished off the day for the Lions with a third-place finish in the 500m run. She completed the race in 18:53.09.
Behrend continues with the Coastal Carolina Invitational tomorrow in the all day event.
