Allen Breaks 200m Record in South Carolina

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team completed their first outdoor competition at the Coastal Carolina Invitational Saturday.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) broke her own outdoor record in the 200m and nearly broke her 100m record as well.

In the 200m dash, she bettered her record by .23 seconds and finished fifth, posting a time of 25.26. In the 100m dash, she missed her record by just .20 seconds and finished seventh with a time of 12.50.

Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) ran the 12th ranked time in the 400m hurdles. She posted a 1:08.86.

Finally for the women, the 4x400m relay team of Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, PA/East Allegheny), Katelyn Hancock (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) and Janiyah Wayne (Erie, PA/Central Tech) finished 17th with a time of 4:23.57.

The Lions have a two-week break before they compete in the Good Friday Meet Friday, March 25.
