Allen Betters Two Records at Gator Invite

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed in the 11th Annual Gator Invitational at Allegheny College Friday afternoon.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) bettered her school records in the 100m and 200m races Friday. She first set the new 100m record in the prelims with a top qualifying mark of 11.92 and then beat the old record again with a first-place finish in the finals with a time of 12.03. Allen also won the 200m with a new record of 24.76.

Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) took home a fifth place finish for the Lions in the 800m, posting a time of 2:22.99 before three separate Behrend runners took seventh in an event.

First, Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch) placed seventh in the 400m with a time of 1:03.06. Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillon) pole vaulted her way over the ECAC qualifying mark and into the championships with a height of 11' 1.75" for her best college performance.

Kati Piger (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) also took seventh, but in the long jump. She posted a distance of 16' 2.25". Piger also took ninth in the 100m, running a time of 12.94.

Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, PA/East Allegheny) finished out individual placing for the Lions with a 10th-place finish in the 5000m. She posted a time of 19:23.31.

Behrend is back on the track when those qualified for the ECAC Championships compete Wednesday and Thursday in Westfield, MA.
