Behrend Women's Track & Field Sits in First After First Day of Conference Championships
The Penn State Behrend women's track & field team scored 83 team points on the first day of the United East Outdoor Championships.
ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's track & field team scored 83 team points on the first day of the United East Outdoor Championships.
Key Moments:
* To start the day, Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) and Noelani Takei (Fremont, CA/Irvington) finished first and third in the pole vault with heights of 11-5 3/4 and 9-2 1/4. Gracie Jones placed eighth in this event
* On the track, the Lions earned first and second-place finishes with times of 12:48.36 and 13:02.80 from Bridget McMaster (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo Central) and Bethany Litwiler (Reynold, PA/Reynolds)
* Kappeler went on to be the runner up in the long jump with a distance of 17-3, while Peyton Grimm (Sykesville, PA/DuBois Area) and Rylee Long (Slippery Rock/Moniteau) placed fourth and fifth, respectively
* Lindsey Hartle (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) was the winner of the 10000m run with a time of 47:39.43, followed by Litwiler in second place and Angelina Compeggie (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) in fourth place
* Sophomore Jessica Park registered a fourth-place throw of 122-0 in the hammer throw, while fellow thrower Paige Massey (Erie, PA/McDowell) notched a sixth-place throw of 96-4 in the discus
* The top three finishers in each event earned All-United East honors
