Volleyball Blanks Grove City, 3-0
The Penn State Behrend women’s volleyball team improved their win streak to three matches with a 3-0 win over Grove City in non-conference action on Wednesday night in the home opener for the Lions.
ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team improved their win streak to three matches with a 3-0 win over Grove City in non-conference action on Wednesday night in the home opener for the Lions.
Behrend defeated the Wolverines 25-14, 25-13 and 25-21 to snap their three-match win streak. Kelly Treser (Pittsburgh, PA/Seneca Valley) had 11 kills and three aces, while Stefanie Kelley (Moon Township, PA/Moon) led the defense with 21 digs.
In game one, the Lions (3-2) went on a 13-1 run to break a 10-all tie to take the early lead. The second game proved much like the first with the Lions taking a big lead, this time thanks to Treser's 11 consecutive serving points. Kelley took over in the third, serving seven straight points to help Behrend blank Grove City.
Jessica Woods (Corry, PA/Corry) contributed eight kills and five blocks. Sarah Jacobs (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) also made five blocks. Mary Sperry (Atlantic, PA/Conneaut Lake) remains consistent with nine kills and eight digs.
The Lions return to action on Friday at the Behrend Invitational, facing Kenyon at 3:30 p.m. and Hiram at 7:30 p.m.
