Lions Fall in Five to Medaille
The Medaille volleyball team rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Penn State Behrend 3-2 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday night.
BUFFALO, NY – The Medaille volleyball team rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Penn State Behrend 3-2 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday night.
The Mavericks (12-14, 6-2 AMCC), who were tied for third place in the conference with the Lions (13-15, 5-3 AMCC) before tonight's match, picked up the crucial win to take over sole possession of third.
Behrend jumped ahead with a 25-20 and 25-18, before the hosts took over and won the final three sets 25-13, 25-20 and 24-22 in the tiebreaker.
Mary Sperry (Atlantic, PA/Conneaut Lake) led with 24 digs and 16 kills for the Lions. Chelsea Magnusen (Plum, PA/Plum) recorded 38 assists and three aces, while Brittany Dhayer (Georgetown, PA/South Side) tallied 14 digs.
Also on the offense, Stefanie Kelley (Moon Township, PA/Moon) posted eight kills and Alyssa Pears (Meadville, PA/Meadville) collected six kills.
Behrend returns to action on Saturday in the regular-season finale against Mt. Aloysius. Match time is 1 p.m.
