Grove City Stops Behrend, 3-1

GROVE CITY, Pa.  – The Grove City women's volleyball team snapped Penn State Behrend's four game winning streak with a 3-1 non-conference decision on Tuesday night.

After taking game one 25-21, the Wolverines managed to take game two by three points and game three by two points for a 2-1 lead in the match. Grove City posted a 25-18 in the decisive game four to earn the win.

For the Lions (4-3), Tory Storino (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) led the defense with a team-best 26 digs and Courtney Hopson (Erie, PA/McDowell) was second with 22 digs and two aces.

Offensively, Catherine Healy (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville) was the leader with 11 kills followed by Ashley Solo (Irwin, PA/Penn-Trafford) with nine kills and double-digit digs with 13.

Senior Alyssa Pears (Meadville, PA/Meadville) added six kills on the night.

Behrend is back in action at the Allegheny Invitational this weekend, starting on Friday against Allegheny at 4 p.m.
