Women's Volleyball Rallies To Defeat Pitt-Bradford; Magnusen Reaches 2,000 Career Assists

BRADFORD, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team rallied back in the second and fourth set to defeat Pitt-Bradford 3-1 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Tuesday night.

The Lions (16-7, 7-0 AMCC) were faced with a one-set deficit after the first, falling 25-22. Behrend went on an 8-0 run in the second set to come back from being down 21-17 to win 25-21. The third set also belonged to the Lions by the same score (25-21), before battling back once again this time from 20-13 to capture the fourth set 25-22 for the conference victory.

Chelsea Magnusen (Plum, PA/Plum) was the all-around player with 40 assists, 12 digs, three blocks and three aces. The junior setter reached 2,000 assists for her career, only needing six heading into tonight's match. Magnusen became just the fourth volleyball player in program history to hit this mark.

Mary Sperry (Atlantic, PA/Conneaut Lake) posted a double-double with 13 kills and 21 digs.  Catherine Healy (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville) had 12 kills and five blocks, while Lindsey Bean (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBeouf) added eight kills to complete Behrend's attack.

 Ariana Rosario-Fuste (San Juan, Puerto Rico/University) aided in the Lions' comeback in the fourth set, serving during a big run of points and collecting three aces along the way.

Behrend returns to action on Saturday at Mt. Aloysius. Match begins at 1 p.m.
