Women's Volleyball Falls to Bethany in ECAC Quarterfinals

BETHANY, W. Va. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to top-seeded Bethany in the quarterfinals of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Tournament on Wednesday night.

The Bisons (29-8) and two-time defending champions swept the Lions (19-10), 25-16, 25-14 and 25-21 to move onto the semifinals.  

Alyssa Pears (Meadville, PA/Meadville) recorded 11 kills and Catherine Healy (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville) followed with eight kills.

Tory Storino (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) tallied 21 digs and Courtney Hopson (Erie, PA/McDowell) finished with 12 digs. Mary Sperry (Atlantic, PA/Conneaut Lake) contributed on both sides of the ball with 16 digs and six kills.

Behrend, the AMCC regular-season champions, finished with a 19-10 overall record.
