Lions Finish Strong at Westminster Tournament

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team finish their opening weekend with a 3-1 record, defeating Baldwin Wallace and Wooster on the second day of the Westminster Tournament on Saturday.

The Lions (3-1) recorded a 3-0 victory over the Yellow Jackets (25-22, 25-20, 25-11) and then a 3-1 win against the Fighting Scots (25-23, 17-25, 25-15, 25-18).

Against Baldwin Wallace, Behrend tallied 33 kills and 54 digs as a team. Meredith Snyder (Parker, PA/Allegheny Clarion Valley) and Lindsay Bean (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) each posted eight kills, while Tory Storino (Pittsburg, PA/Baldwin) had a team-best 22 digs. Chelsea Magnusen (Plum, PA/Plum) contributed 23 assists, five aces and five digs.

In the win over Wooster, Bean was in double-digit kills with 10 to lead the team. Four players had double-digit digs, led by Storino with 35. Allania Banta (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) added 13, while Ashley Solo (Irwin, PA/Penn-Trafford) and Magnusen recorded 11 apiece.

Behrend is back in action on Friday at the Keuka Tournament. The Lions will face MCLA at 7 p.m.
