Volleyball Downs MCLA for Fourth Straight Win

KEUKA PARK, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team earned their fourth consecutive win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) 3-0 on day one of the Keuka College Tournament on Friday.

The Lions (4-1) breezed by the Trailblazers (3-1) 25-6, 25-13 and 25-9 to hand them their first loss.

Chelsea Magnusen (Plum, PA/Plum) dished out 24 assists on the 34 kills by the team. Meredith Snyder (Parker, PA/Allegheny Clarion Valley) led with eight kills, five assists and three blocks.

Lindsay Bean (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) matched Snyder with eight kills on 11 total attempts for a .636 hitting percentage. All but two players recorded digs for Behrend, led by Courtney Hopson (Erie, PA/McDowell) with seven.

Behrend had 10 aces with Ashley Solo (Irwin, PA/Penn-Trafford) and Alyssa Samarco (Plum, PA/Plum) recorded three apiece.

Paige Scurpa added six kills and Lauren Blachowski (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) tallied four kills and three blocks in the win.

The Lions return to action tomorrow against Houghton and Alfred. Match times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
