ERIE, Pa. – Meredith Snyder (Parker, PA/Allegheny Clarion Valley) combined for 25 kills, eight blocks and six digs, while Tory Storino (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) tallied 32 digs to lead Penn State Behrend past La Roche (3-0) and Wooster (3-1) on Saturday afternoon in a tri-match at the Junker Center.

In the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) match against the Redhawks (12-14, 2-4 AMCC), the Lions (17-7, 6-0 AMCC) won 25-11, 25-18 and 25-17 to keep their undefeated streak against La Roche alive.

Behrend then earned a 25-20, 23-25, 28-26 and 25-17 victory over Wooster, its second win over the Fighting Scots this season.

Chelsea Magnusen (Plum, PA/Plum) registered 67 assists, 21 digs, 12 kills and four blocks in two matches. In the nightcap, she dished out 45 assists while Snyder recorded a season-best 19 best kills.

After an 18-10 lead in the first set against La Roche, Amber Ricci (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic) served through seven straight points to get one ace and a pair of kills from Alyssa Samarco (Plum, PA/Plum) and eventually win on a kill from Snyder.

The Redhawks kept the set closer in the second, but Behrend managed a 25-18 win before closing out the match 25-17 in the third thanks to three total kills from Samarco and one from Ashley Solo (Irwin, PA/Penn-Trafford) for the final point.

Behind Snyder's offense and Storino's defense, the Lions were able to complete the sweep on the day with a 3-1 win over Wooster. Snyder led with seven kills in the first set and six in the third, giving Behrend a 2-1 lead after dropping a close second set.

Samarco, who also was in double-digit kills against the Fighting Scots, had eight of her 11 in the final two sets.

After trailing early in the fourth set 8-7, the Lions went on a 7-2 spurt to take the lead for good. Magnusen and Paige Scurpa (Sharpsville, PA/Sharpsville) each had two kills in the final points, while Storino made it official with an ace for a 25-17 win.

Behrend returns to action on Tuesday against Pitt-Bradford. Match begins at 7 p.m.
